About The Keynote Speaker

Walter Koroshetz, M.D.

Dr. Walter J. Koroshetz is Director of the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) at NIH, where he has led transformative initiatives in neuroscience since 2015. A driving force behind the NIH BRAIN Initiative and the HEAL Initiative to combat opioid addiction, he also co-leads programs addressing long COVID, undiagnosed diseases, and emergency care research. He chairs the Interagency Pain Research Coordinating Committee and has played a pivotal role in advancing stroke imaging and neurocritical care.
Before joining NIH, Dr. Koroshetz was Vice Chair of Neurology at Massachusetts General Hospital and Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School, where he directed neurology training and co-led the Neurobiology of Disease Course. His pioneering research in Huntington’s disease and stroke imaging helped establish techniques now standard in clinical care, including MR spectroscopy and acute clot removal for stroke.
A respected leader in neurology, Dr. Koroshetz has shaped national neuroscience strategy and continues to champion innovation in brain research and patient care.
